Dear fellow jinxed traveler,

I am not completely sure about what direction this travel blog will take, but I hope that by sharing some tips – learned, alas and alack, the hard way – I can help you to avoid being a disaster magnet. Because the unknown can be fun, but knowing the unknown beforehand at least makes you a responsible irresponsible. Just trust me. Or don’t 😉

(P.S. The elephant was okay, she was just chilling)

Who is this travel blog for?

The official version of my value proposition is that I plan to create useful travel guides and share invaluable tips about the places I visited so that you too can create memories you will remember (hopefully, for the right reasons).
My travel style is what I would call “misfit traveling“, so you can expect that I spend one night at the Ritz Carlton and the following one in a rat-infested hovel (real story, reversed order). After all, variety is the spice of life, isn’t it?

On top of that, since I also love food, I decided to dedicate a section of my website to the food I love and to the best dishes and restaurants you can find around the world. Generally, I don’t travel too much on a budget. But, regardless of my budget, a big portion of it goes towards food. Because I’m the kind of person who needs to try everything typical (and multiple times from different places). So, with time, you’ll find a preselection of must-try food & restaurants from all the places I visited.

That’s it, hope you enjoy.

The unofficial version of my purpose here, instead, is that I decided to become a firm believer in karma. That’s because up until now there hasn’t been a trip that wasn’t memorable for a reason or another (I have countless stories to tell, and I will. That’s a promise and a threat). Regarding that, I can’t remember how many times I was told and/or considered going to Lourdes. Or Santiago de Compostela. Or Međugorje. Yeah, I’m that jinxed (nothing major though, so don’t worry). So I hope that this travel blog counts as a good action karma-wise.

Anyhow, as I said in the official version, variety is the spice of life. And, by using the same metaphor, thanks to my travels my life is spicy hot. Dessert, anyone?

(If this doesn’t work either, I’ll post a popcorn recipe soon for you to enjoy this new form of entertainment.)

But let’s cut the cackle and get down to the important facts.

First, thank you for stumbling across my travel blog.

I’m Aurora and I’m a (mainly solo) traveler with Chinese blood but I was born and raised in Italy. Ah, I also lived in 5 other countries, and I am still amazed by how I was able to discover and reinvent myself every time I moved somewhere else.

I started this blog in 2023 while I was on a forced sabbatical due to the quite widespread hiring freeze, and I decided to focus on something people who know me appreciate. That is my storytelling ability. (And my incalculable amount of rotten luck, ça va sans dire).
